CHINA-HOSPEQ 2013 Review

CHINA-HOSPEQ 2013, along with China Health Forum and China Hospital Forum, has been successfully held at China National Convention Center in Beijing, on August 16th-18th.

The professional event integrates products display and demonstration with seminars on industry policy researches and academic and technical exchanges. Various stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, experts, media and civil society representatives, participated in this event. It aims to mobilize relevant stakeholders to join efforts to promote the sustainable development of the healthcare sector.

At CHINA-HOSPEQ 2013, 200 leading companies took part in the event and demonstrated their products and technology. A total of 103 seminars and forums were held during the exhibition, covering 376 topics. In total, 14,597 visitors attended the event. Chinese government officials and health ministers from over 50 African countries visited the exhibition and consulted the exhibitors on their interested products.

Three highlight exhibition zones were set up. “In China, For the World” showcased appropriate health technology in nine areas, including traditional Chinese medicine, reproductive health, prevention, screening, diagnosis, e-health, treatment, infection control, nursing and rehabilitation, as well as emergency medical aid. The equipment and technology on show were tailored to the needs of county level and community hospitals. The aim is to provide clinical solutions that meet the needs of these hospitals, while at the same time demonstrate independent research and innovation capability of Chinese manufacturers and their achievements in technology advancement.

Theme exhibition area of “Starting Point: Towards A Healthy Lifestyle” promotes healthy life habits and active health management such as adopting balanced diet, exercising regularly and effective weight control methods. It is designed to echo the ongoing NCDs prevention and control efforts by governmental public health agencies. The show is opened to the public, as a means to encourage and advocate for more societal level involvement in health promotion programs. China CDC and several companies, including Coca-Cola and Nestlé, took part in the exhibition. The industry sends out the message that they regard population health and well-being as their core responsibility, and endeavors to achieve this by improving product quality through researches and innovation.

A delegation of 20 British healthcare organizations, led by UK Trade & Investment and Healthcare UK, exhibited at the event this year as well. They are from a wide spectrum of healthcare sector, including training and development, elderly care, digital health, architecture, medical equipment, and the National Health Service (NHS) with its 65 years of experience and achievement. The showcase featured free health check by British physicians, demonstrations of simulated emergency surgical procedures and consultation with exhibitors at each stand.
